My name's Matthew Large. I'm 16 and currently studying for A Levels at school and I live in Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK.

I started with web and graphic design in late 2007. After spending too much time in front of the computer screen, I thought I'd be better putting that time to better use. So I got Photoshop and it all started from there. From graphic design, I moved on to web design and started creating websites.

WEB DEVELOPMENT & ADVERTISING

The Junior Belfast Giants were previously known as the Northern Ireland Ice Hockey Club. When they became affiliated with the Coors Belfast Giants, they decided that they needed a new website.

Early in 2008 I began to do design work for the Junior Belfast Giants in the way of a website and advertising material. The club thought that members needed to be kept up to date with the latest news and information as it happened. This was achievable using a CMS which allows easy editing of the website.

In late 2008 I was approached by the Belfast Bookbinding Company who were in need of a new website and corporate identity.

I began by creating a new logo and used this colour scheme throughout the entire website. I have also created promotional material and advertisements for Belfast Bookbinding Company.

This is one of the first logos I ever designed. It was for a friend's church - St. Martins (part of Ballymacarrett Group of Churches).

This was the first website that I created. It was for a local group of churches in the Belfast area. They wanted a fresh, simple website with the aim of informing the local community of the church.

This website has since been taken offline

WEB DEVELOPMENT

The East Belfast Herald is a community newspaper for the East Belfast area. They have only been running for around and year and their first website wasn't working very well for them.
I was asked to design a website that would appeal to users and be easy to navigate, which could also help people in the local community have their say on the stories.
The website is built around the Wordpress CMS and has a lot of features added. There is a forum where users can raise topics in the community for discussion and talk to other people. And also a feed facility where users can sign up to an RSS feed by email (FeedBurner) or view the feed in their browser.

WEB DEVELOPMENT

Inferno is an event in Northern Ireland exclusively for Under 18s. It features live music with popular local DJs and upcoming talent.
I was asked to create a website that would appeal to young people and advertise the event. I used bright colours and a simple layout to achieve this. The website is informative, but still remains uncluttered.

WEB DEVELOPMENT

In school, I was asked to do Community Service for an hour per fortnight. I chose North Belfast Employment Centre, and they needed a website. I have been working with them from late September in creating an easy to use website for people in the local community.
They offer services for getting people who have been out of work back into the workplace. They offer a range of programmes and support.
My aim was to create a site that was easy to navigate, with all the necessary information. I created the site around the Wordpress CMS, which makes it very easy to update and maintain.
The site is not completely finished yet, but it is operational...
